I downloaded Elements. Where are its files?

Elements executable ELEMENTS.EXE is in the folder "Downloaded Program Files", a subfolder of the Windows folder. The type library ELEMENTS.TLB and help files ELEMENTS.HLP and ELEMENTS.CNT are in the folder System32, another subfolder of the Windows folder. Elements can be uninstalled using Windows Explorer. Right click on each file and choose command Remove or Delete.

How can Elements be run as a stand-alone multi-document application?

First, right click anywhere on the desktop. In the popup menu select New, and then New Elements Document.ele. That inserts a shortcut icon to your desktop. Double click on this icon to start Elements in stand-alone mode. Also, any file saved with extension ".ele", can be re-opened using Explorer.

Does Elements run under Windows 3.1 or Windows 3.11?

Elements Version 9.0 is a 32-bit program. It runs under the Windows NT or Windows 95/98 operating system. Although Elements Version 7.0 runs under Windows 3.1, it is no longer supported.

How can I see Elements in action?

To directly see how Elements is used, run the demo scripts. Some scripts generate plots.

How can I embed Elements as an ActiveX control in my HTML documents?

Does Elements have a manual?

Yes. See Elements User's Guide and Reference Manual.

Does Elements perform symbolic algebra operations?

No. At least, not like most other math environments. Elements does not manipulate symbolic formulas. However, it does has the polynomial data type that allows arbitrary precision arithmetic. The polynomial is the primitive data type for other computer algebra systems. EleSoft Research is developing a symbolic capability using nested C++ virtual functions. Elements will remain focused on numerical computation.
